This gorgeous rounded, large brim statement hat is handmade by the artisans of Made4woman. The hat is called ADALA, meaning \'crazy\' in Malagasy and is created by weaving colorful Raphia in a tight, padded crochet.
The final hat weighs around 1.43 kg and is 37 cm long. They also add a tag made of antaimoro paper – a local handmade paper with pressed flowers – that shows the name and face of the artisan who created each product, as well as a QR code that links to each woman’s story. The Raphia used is collected in a natural park in Madagascar, where it is cultivated organically as part of the local flora. They then dye it with AZO-free pigments to minimize the risk of allergic reactions, toxins, and heavy metal use and contamination. This allows them to protect their workers, the environment, and their final customers! Their products are fully compostable and biodegrade in about 10-13 years, compared to synthetic fibers, which can take up to 200 years to decompose.
Because everything we create is made by hand, production can take up to 15 days
